Egg Mixture

- ¾ cup half-and-half or whole milk or heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup plus more for serving
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch kosher salt
Rolls and Butter
- 1 12-ounce package Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter divided, plus more for serving

Cooking Instructions
Whisk together the eggs, dairy of choice, maple syrup, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt in a wide, shallow dish until combined and no streaks of egg remain.
Separate the rolls and place half in the egg mixture, soaking all cut sides for about 30 seconds each while keeping the rolls intact. Transfer soaked rolls to a plate.
Melt 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the soaked rolls cut side down and cook until golden-brown, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer to a serving plate.
Soak the remaining rolls, then melt the remaining butter in the pan before cooking the second batch. Serve warm with powdered sugar or maple syrup.
